After all my cycle tips from yesterday, I thought of one more thing to keep you safe on the road… gloves. They don’t just keep your hands warm.
Think what happens if you were to come off – the first thing you’d do is put your hand out to stop yourself hitting the ground so hard. Hands versus tarmac/concrete road? The road’ll win. And no-one wants shredded hands for the next couple of weeks!
Gloves are more important than helmets, also choose padded ones, otherwise you may suffer from arthritis in old age, as the vibrations knacker yer joints.
Sound advice.
My gloves were totally written off when I came off my bike. Bar the broken carpal bones (below little finger and one next to it), my hands were intact.
Contrast a few weeks ago when I tripped while out running and my hands were shredded and 4 weeks later nearly healed. I should have worn my (new) bike gloves for running…!
