Terrence Higgins Trust is set to launch a group aimed at supporting gay men who have recently been diagnosed with HIV.

The ‘Newly Diagnosed Group’ will take place in a safe and confidential place, where group members will have the opportunity to meet people in similar situations as well as build new support networks. Trained staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide information and advice to members on how to come to terms with their diagnosis, mange their relationships, and stay active and healthy.

Adam Wilkinson, Regional Manager at Terrence Higgins Trust, said: ‘People who have recently been diagnosed with HIV can often feel isolated, especially if they face a lack of understanding from friends and family. The group aims to provide members with practical and emotional support as well as advice and information to help improve their emotional and physical wellbeing. We would encourage anyone who feels that they can benefit from our sessions to get in touch.’

The ‘Newly Diagnosed Group’ will start meeting in October, on Thursdays from 6.30pm-9pm.
