Azerbaijan human rights group Nəfəs LGBT Azərbaycan Alyansı is pioneering a Hate Kills campaign ahead of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, which this year is on 17 May.

They are asking people to replace the first word from the warning on a packet of cigarettes with the word Hate – so that instead of reading, ‘Smoking is harmful for your health and people around you’, it reads ‘Hate is harmful for your health and people around you’.

You can email your photo to them, or send it to them via their Facebook or Twitter.

In the run-up to International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, So So Gay is asking you about your own perception of homophobia and transphobia and your own experiences with them. Please let us know via email, in the comments below, or tweet us using the hashtags #thebigquestion or #SSGIDAHO.

We’ll use some of the most interesting – and most scary – in a news story closer to the time, so please tell us if you don’t want your name or story published.
