The UK’s only full time LGBT radio station, Gaydio, is to set up a pop-up service on DAB Digital Radio this summer. The station is set to broadcast across central Scotland (including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Paisley & Stirling) from 14 July to 31 August, which includes both Pride Glasgow and the Commonwealth Games.

Alastair Smith, Chief Executive of Pride Glasgow expressed his excitement at Gaydio launching in Scotland in time for Pride Glasgow, commenting: ‘It’s great that Gaydio will not only be available in cars and on radios across central Scotland, but it means that there is a unique opportunity for people to be part of it.’

Gaydio is the world’s biggest LGBT radio station, with a monthly audience of 850,000 listeners. The station plays dance and pop music, features interviews with top guests and keeps listeners up-to-date with the latest LGBT news. Alongside nightly DJ guest mixes, Chris and Emma wake up gay UK every weekday morning, while Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson also presents his own Sunday afternoon show.

Pride Glasgow 2014 is Scotland’s largest LGBT Pride Festival and runs from 19 July to 3 August with its parade, main event and a range of festival events including art exhibition and transgender discussion evening and is part of Homecoming Scotland 2014.
