Heather Small, made famous in recent years for being frequently mentioned in comedy show Miranda, is set to perform at this year’s Liverpool Pride. She topped the charts in the 1990s as part of pop band M People.

Small will join headline act Katy B on the Waterfront stage along with 80s pop songstress Sonia on the Stanley Street stage. Other acts are still to be announced for the festival, which this year is on Saturday 2 August and is themed ‘Glam Fairy Tales’.

After emerging from the Manchester club scene, Small’s distinctive voice soon became well known, featuring on classic hits such as ‘One Night in Heaven’, ‘Moving On Up’ and ‘Search for the Hero’.

Through their career that has spanned three decades, Heather Small and M People have become one of the biggest dance acts in the UK, selling over 11 million records. The mid 1990s saw them win a Brit Award and receive the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.

This year marks the 5th anniversary for Liverpool Pride, which was established in 2010 and takes place each year to coincide with the date of gay teenager Michael Causer’s murder six years ago.

Last year’s Pride was the biggest to date, attracting 65,000 revellers over two sites, with visitors travelling from all around the world to join in the fun.

Tickets are needed to enter all three zones on the Waterfront, Stanley Street and Eberle Street, with early bird tickets still available at £5, compared to £11 on the day. For tickets, book online or call the Liverpool Pride Ticket Hotline on 0844 8000 509. Tickets are also available in person at TicketQuarter, Queen Square, Liverpool.
